Awesome Dude! Ride the Waves!

Hi everyone!

WoW! It's been a while since I made a blog post!
Whats been happening since I last spoke to you guys?

I had another rehearsal! My final one at the specific location in London, and then we move onto a new, outdoor location in Essex.
The choreography is now pretty much down. Most of the routines have been taught to us, I imagine that the next few weeks is going to involve some serious polishing of movements. Many of the dances involve precise movement and timing by everyone. The dance "munchkins" mingle among us, putting right every leg that's out of line or every hand that isn't in the right position.

It's hard work. This last weekend, people were visibly tired by the end of it. It's still an amazing opportunity that I appreciate that I won't ever get again. It's also great being in on the BIG SECRET! I have revealed little if not nothing to most people! The surprise is half of the spectacle!

I had a disaster with my outfit choice last week. Due to my rather curvy size 14/16 figure, the costume team felt I was too fat for the costumes that most girls were put in.....they instead put me in a boys costume!!! This completely threw me, and destroyed all confidence and concentration. I have since been in touch with someone via email about my concerns, so far not heard anything, but I am well aware of the backlog of emails they must currently have! Fingers crossed though!

I've had my boyfriend staying with me over the weekend, which has been amazing. Just chillin', eating good food and a few (just a few) bottles! Pulled BBQ pork tonight! Damn! He goes back to Uni tomorrow though, boo :(. All on my own again until my family return from America in just over 2 weeks time.

Been chatting to them a bit on SKYPE! Skype is amazing! Seriously! I love being able to see people while I talk, they can show me around the room at least!! I'll get back to Disney World one day!!! In the meantime, I am eyeing up the brochures for Disneyland Paris! :)

Need to get a bit of dosh in my back pocket first!

What a Weekend!

This time last week i'm sure I was blogging about the absolute pain that I was in after my first Olympic rehearsal.

This weekend, is no better. In fact it is 10x worse.
I had a bad rehearsal. I was absolutely shattered by about 11am and struggling to stand up. The moves were getting faster and faster, and the choreographers were pushing us to the limit. In a 5 hour rehearsal we get 1 15min break and 1 10min break. During both of which I was literally crawling along the floor to my water and Powerade.
I felt like crying. My body was screaming at me to stop. I wasn't out of breath (so it shows i'm not unfit) but I just couldn't get my body to move fast enough.

I also had completely the wrong shoes on. I came out without my trainers and had t rush to M&S yesterday to buy some "boat" shoes, uncushioned and needing to be worn in properly, it just led to excruciating pain every time I moved my feet as my blossoming blisters rubbed ever more against them.
Was I going to show my pain?? I tried so hard not to, but for the last hour I just lost it. My brain couldn't focus on the routines, and looking at my reflection in the studio mirror I looked visibly shattered.

I came out of the rehearsal when it finished, and just burst into floods of tears. I had a mile walk back to Stratford station, limping and crying for most of the way. My bag (containing only overnight essentials) felt heavier than ever.
I could hear myself audibly shouting at myself to keep walking, as I so badly wanted to collapse at the side of the road. People did a double take at me, as I looked like I had just run the London Marathon. Someone even asked me "What time did you finish in?"

I made it back to the station. And for the rest of the journey, just rubbed my poor feet and got my breath back, sipping energy drink, occasionally letting a little tear fall down my cheek.

What was I doing??
I kept asking myself why I was doing this. It's not fun. I'm not enjoying it. And seriously, you look around and everyone else is coping fine. Why couldn't I do it?
If you had asked me at Stratford "Do you want to quit this?" my answer would have been YES! I couldn't understand why I was putting myself through all this grief and pain, all in the name of volunteering!
Ask me the same question now (now I'm back home and in bed) my answer is NO!

Yes it is unbelievably painful. Yes it is VERY difficult. Yes they are pushing you to the max. And even, No i'm not enjoying it (YET) time will heal. (and quite a few plasters and bandages) But the honor of being involved in this, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. People are so proud of what I have achieved and I ca't let them down.

All this is such a stark contrast to my day yesterday. I was re-united with my (ex) boyfriend after 5 months of being apart, and long periods of not speaking. It's been a hard time.
However, I am now the happiest and luckiest girl alive. A spark has been re-kindled. Yet I was desperate to phone him today during my desperate walk back to the station. However, I knew he would have wanted me to get through it on my own, crying to him would have achieved nothing. It would have been a big step backwards if I had!

And right now, I cannot feel anything from my shoulders out, or my hips down. But i'm in bed, so i'm quite safe! :)

Looming Rehersals

AHHHHHH
It's getting closer and closer and more and more real

My rehearsals for summer 2012 officially start THIS WEEKEND.
I've had my final email from the team before it all kicks off in 4 days time. Final confirmation of times and venues, and a rough idea of what will be happening on Sunday.

My rehearsal schedule has been changed, ALREADY! With more dates being added to my diary, and only 1 taken out! My times are all over the place too, varying from 9am-1pm, 1pm-6pm and 6pm-10pm!

Some weeks I will be going a full 7 days in between rehearsals and others I have between 3-4 per WEEK!

Unfortunately where I live, is right on the coast of Suffolk, and it takes me 30 minutes on the train to my nearest station for London. My local train doesn't run on a Sunday morning, thus meaning for the first few weeks i'm having to stay overnight in London. Something that I hate having to do, but it's only for the first 5 weeks.

I'm very nervous as this is such a massive opportunity for me and it's just making this such an exciting time in my life . I won't ever get an opportunity like this again.

But don't rely on me coming back and updating you of my progress on here....no way! I'm sworn to secrecy!
